testimonials[10]="Dear Shohreh, My symptoms started about 5 years ago with pain, locking of the joint, and distension of my left arm and 4th/5th fingers. They became progressively worse over a 4 year period, during which time I sought opinions from physicians, surgeons, and physical therapists. I was diagnosed with cubital tunnel syndrome, most likely the result of calcification from an elbow dislocation when I was a young girl. The pain intensified to the point where I needed remediation - I could no longer grasp anything and use my arm. I could no longer cook, garden, write, draw, etc. As a competitive swimmer, I found that I experienced intense sharp pain when training. Tests indicated that I had significant nerve damage. One surgeon wanted to relocate my nerve to the other side of my elbow, requiring 6 month recuperation. Another surgeon agreed to a more conservative surgery - removing the calcification in order to free the nerve. I agreed, and after months of physical therapy, finally increased my mobility to the point where I could hold a hair brush. The surgeon also indicated that he'd removed arthritic nodules and that I would most likely require similar surgery in the future. My finger joints were still abnormally distended and I could not make a fist, despite my attempts to strengthen my hand/fingers. After a couple of years, I began experiencing pain and decreased mobility again, and decided to try acupuncture. I found Shohreh Doustani quite by accident - she shared office space with my physician. Her treatments felt like I was receiving spa services. After 4 visits, my pain was negligent, my fingers looked normal, and I could make a fist. My mobility is now about 90%, the pain has all but disappeared, including when swimming, and most importantly, I've been able to resume most activities (although somehow I can't seem to resume washing dishes!). I was calling around to try and find one close to the house and someone who was 'fit' for my condition. I was lead to her. She was so welcoming on the phone. This is something I never had done and was a bit intimidated at the thought of doing acupuncture. When we met, I felt as if I had known her my whole life. I tried over the counter and prescription pain medications, which also had side effects and did not really alleviate the pain. When I was led to Shohreh Dousanti I was so depressed. I had undergone two surgeries - a bone graft and the original surgery which left me with a metal plate and screws. I was in a wheelchair for about one year during which time I continued treatment with Shohreh. Although my orthopedic surgeon basically said he had done all he could to foster union of the bone and gave me an unclear prognosis, Shohreh was supportive of my healing during this very difficult time in my life when I didn't know how well I would be able to walk again. As I was slowly improving, my intuition led me to have the metal plate removed. The metal had broken because the bone grew and compressed it. It was because of my wanting to have the metal out, which Shohreh agreed with, that I discovered that the metal was literally in the way of the bone growing. To my doctor's disbelief I grew a considerable amount of bone in 5 to 6 weeks after that. I have continued to improve and although I still wear a brace I can now ride my bike again.
